THE GLEAMER
The Gleamer, teases the structural integrity out of one of the strongest forms in the universe, the triangle, which is integral to the practice of architecture. It is a parody of the value systems associated with architecture, allowing the triangle to be fluid instead of rigid, playful instead of austere, absurd instead of functional. Comprised of thousands of hand-cut aluminum triangles that are laminated to organza fabric, the object was originally used as a performative sculpture, inviting participants to slither under, writhe around, dance and scrunch up the structure into new forms.

THE GLEAMER DUELING
The Gleamer is an extended project that has taken many formations. Originally, this project transformed the structural breakthroughs of Buckminster Fuller into physical objects for amusement. The sculpture was entered and manipulated from underneath to become a variety of sculptural forms. This piece was extended into two identical Gleamers who are pitted against each other as imaginary opponents. In the video, the choreographed actions are jerky, frustrating and mesmerizing.
